This Valentine's Day, Sleep Better Together!

In spite of our most loving intentions, we don’t always get the best sleep possible when sharing the bed with our loved one! In honour of Valentine’s Day, the Dream Team at Snore MD has built a list of facts about sharing the bed with your partner.

  1. About 24% of couples in North America sleep in separate beds, a quarter of the population is missing out on snuggles!

  2. While previous studies showed sleeping alone was beneficial (less disruptions = better sleep), recent studies showed shacking up reduced stress hormones in the body.

  3. 60% of adults would rather sleep apart then with their bed partner .

How can you get the best sleep possible, while still sharing your bed with you partner? Here are some tips to ensure your most restful nights…

  1. Carve out 15 minutes before bed, with your loved one, to perform a relaxing exercise such as meditation, or reading a paperback book. It may be a huge change to add this in, but the results will help both your brains relax to a slow wave, aiding in a slumber that doesn’t involve as much fidgeting.

  2. Invest in your sleep! Make sure your mattress and sheets are high quality, made with breathable material such as cotton to keep you cool all night.

  3. Ensure you are both having your healthiest sleep. If Snoring, Restless Legs, or tossing and turning is keeping you or your partner up at night, get sleep tested for free at a local Snore MD clinic in the comfort of your own home!

  4. Spend time relaxing during the day, recent studies show that making the effort to relax for a few minutes a day will help you and your partner get a deeper sleep consistently.
